One of our neighbors just happens to be the talented multi-media artist Rebeka Skela, who offered to paint a mural on the wall overlooking Kentucky St. The piece is full of magical and not-so-magical creatures, and features Rebeka's take on a River Queen. Come see the full 95' original mural when you visit the farm and check out Rebeka's other mind-exploding stuff here!
Take a look at this super cool time lapse of the making of the mural, featuring the artist, a farmer, and a pile of disappearing compost: |
Here at River Queen Greens, we don't mind being watched by Hugo Gyrl's garden goddess. She's our own beautiful, sleepy-eyed neighborhood watch, and you can spot her spotting you as you cross the St. Claude Ave Bridge to the Lower Ninth Ward.
According to the Times-Picayune, Hugo Gyrl, "a masterful muralist with a seemingly gender-neutral street persona is emerging as one of the town's best and best-known artists." Come take a look at Hugo's most recent, and greenest creation. |
